Phoenix Men (Seniors for the day) were also in attendance, albeit with limited numbers. The Perth team were in combative mood and despatched 4J Nationals, despite a spirited fightback by the Dundee side to reduce, what was a significant deficit to one point. In their second game of the day, Phoenix matched the eventual Blitz winners, Arbroath Musketeers, for the majority of the game but faltered as fatigue, the running clock and some well executed outside shooting conspired against them.  Notable during this game, as evidenced throughout the day, was Neil Moar’s prolific rebounding against taller opposition.                             The next three encounters, against Phantoms, Dundee College and Frews Madsons proved the value of a largely impermeable zone. The Perth men rolled on to three consecutive wins. At the offensive end Chris Dodds found his range from three point land early, and was able to provide essential breathing space whenever a challenge was evident. As the day wore on Stevie Dewar became more adept at benefiting from regular drives to the basket. Latterly, he was able to drain some treys as the basket came into focus after early efforts were marred by the effects of an exuberant early morning. The remaining triumvirate Iain Gordon, David Legge and Bruce Innes all scored heavily at various times as their numbers were called. Despite losing out to the Muskies as group leaders, an enjoyable and productive day was had by all and made looking forward to the inevitable Monday morning pain more bearable.
